    Special warfare/operations jobs such as the Air Force pararescueman (PJ) are among the most physically demanding roles in the military, so they come with stricter fitness requirements for admission. The PAST Test is designed to test candidates' physical abilities in calisthenics, strength, cardiovascular fitness, and endurance.

Norwegian Special forces requirements. Its split over two days: Day 1: Pull ups ( minimum 8, strict) Situps: 50. Same as airforce you do here Roll up back extension: 25. 5 seconds up Push ups: 45 ( strict, shoulder width) chest must touch every rep Run: 15 m x 7m x 15m x 7m Lay out with cones in a rentangle. Long sides is 15 meters, short ones are 7m. On side with 15meters your shoulder and back must touch the ground. The other 15 meter side: chest must touch You need to complete 32 rounds in 10 min Day 2: Field march / hike 30 km 22 kg ruck sack + weapon, food water Total 28kg. Max time: 4 h 40 min Swim: 400 meter, first 25 meters under water. 11 min

The ruck is a 4mph pace, but at 61 lbs, plus food and water so 68/70lbs. Just shuffle and sprint for 4 hours and you'll be good to go Idk who it is but some unit is out their doing 80 plus lbs.

I past this test in the early 90s. I didn’t come close to those numbers but I finished the swim at the end, when a lot of guys quit. I think they’re looking for guys that don’t quit more than hitting the numbers.

i can do 10 pull ups, 75 push ups in 2mins and 50 sit ups in 2mins, and 1.5 mile run in 9mins, i did that every single day, and in the morning

@Noon Slayer2000 Yah AFI has across the chest. It has to be AFSC specific otherwise you have PTL's doing it wrong, at least for the standard test.

@Noon Slayer2000 Are you in the AF currently? If so what is your AFSC? Regardless of this, the last 10+ years have been palms flat on the collar bone/upper chest not gripping the shirt. MTIs in basic would scream at you if you did otherwise even for battlefield airmen.

It's interesting that the AF and Army have the same form for sit-ups, of which are now said to be the harshest on your neck and back, while the Marines and the Navy both have their own forms. You'd think the Marines, if any, would have the least medically safe form, given that they get the least amount of funding out of all 4 branches including research.

For PT test in the AF we do sit ups with with arms across our chest and honestly a “crunch” counts as a sit up. Didn’t know the sit ups are differ for that PAST

The thing that makes this so comical is that none of this proves that you are fit to be a legit pararescue guy or special forces guy. None of these movements will be used in the act of doing your actual job. It’s kind of like how useless a college degree is. A college proves absolutely nothing in the actual workforce. I’ve seen 4.0 honors students get into the workforce and they can’t even hold a professional business conversation or sales call at all. Can’t even type fast on the computer. Don’t understand grammar and sentence and paragraph structure. Redundant vocabulary. Can’t do intermediate level math in his head. Basically completely useless in the workforce. But got a 4.0 GPA. That’s exactly what this physical test is like. Completely meaningless when applied to actual warfare or operations

Good stuff thanks for showing the real test. The majority or the proctors will fail you if you stop at any time prior to 2 minutes. As well as stopingqs any point during the run or swim. Most of us were oushing for 80 push ups and roughly 60 sit ups. But the instructors goal was to keep you repping out the entire 2 minutes.

Just in case anyone see this and might be taking this test in the future, make sure you go past all requirements don't hit bare minimum and also Cadre with be way more strict with form, lots of push ups wouldn't have counted because his elbows didn't lock out, which is what they really harp on, but good job to this guy fr👌

You need to push yourself and run at least 3 days per week/at least 10 miles total per week. Stair climbing & swimming are also very important. Be sure that you are performing Push-Ups & Sit Ups & Pullups every 48 to 72 hours. Don't push too hard when your getting started, after your 3rd workout you will be stronger than when you started.

Wait wait…1 singular push-up actually counts as 1 for the Air Force?? My brother joined the army and 50 normal tricep push-ups for a civilian was 100 tricep push-ups for them. He is now able to do 100 push-ups in under a minute because of red phase at boot camp. Maybe it’s only because he is in boot camp that push-ups are doubled and are tricep push-ups instead of normal ones ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
